In 2023, amidst the violence between the Kuki and Meitei communities in Manipur, thousands of families were displaced, losing their homes, possessions, and, in many cases, their loved ones. Responding to this humanitarian crisis, Sneha Sagar Society undertook a relief mission to extend support and solidarity to those affected by the conflict.
A few truckload of essential relief materials weighing about 12 ton was sent to assist displaced families living in relief camps. Our Sisters visited several camps housing both Kuki and Meitei communities, listening to their experiences and witnessing first-hand the immense challenges they continued to face.
Many families had lost everything—their homes, livelihoods, and treasured belongings—while others were grieving the loss of family members. Due to security restrictions and stringent checkpoints, reaching the Kuki relief camps was particularly challenging. Despite these difficulties, our team successfully visited several camps and personally distributed relief supplies to three relief camps.
To ensure that assistance reached those in more remote and restricted locations, the remaining relief materials were entrusted to local priests and social workers, who distributed them to other camps with the necessary permissions.
This humanitarian mission reflected Sneha Sagar Society's unwavering commitment to serving people in times of crisis, regardless of their community or background. Guided by compassion and humanity, we stood alongside those affected by the violence, offering practical assistance, hope, and the reassurance that they were not alone in their time of need.
