August 2021 - Sangli Flood Relief Outreach

Dear benefactors, well-wishers and friends,

I, Sister Martha Mondal am very glad to share with you all that our outreach to Sangli has been a great success and we were able to reach out to the people of 3 different villages in the district of Sangli where the disaster struck severely, many lost their belongings, even their lives and to make matters worse the number of Covid cases are high in the villages we visited. We packed 500 sacks containing food grains (rice, atta, wheat, dal, masalas, poha, rawa, salt, sugar, cooking oil, etc) toiletries (soaps, surf powder, toothpaste etc), towel, blankets, plates and stationeries but we could reach to only 300 families due to shortage of time and the rest 200 sacks are kept in the parish where they will reach those 200 sacks to other villages in need.

We reach our destination at Saint Alphonsa School Alpho Training & Animation Centre (ATC) Sangli at 7:30am and unloaded all the sacks from the truck to another truck to take it to the villages.

We then went to the 1st village named Devwadi where we distributed the things to 150 families and visited some of the houses that were very badly affected by the floods.

We then went to the 2nd village named Sagaon where we distributed the things to 120 families and visited some of the houses affected by the floods.

We then went to the 3rd village named Punavat where we distributed the things to 35 families.

On 6th August, 2021 at 12:30 am, we left for Sangli to reach out to people living there, those who have been severely affected by the 2021 floods and before we left His Lordship Bishop Dominic Savio visited and blessed our outreach. We reached our destination at Saint Alphonsa School Alpho Training & Animation Centre (ATC) Sangli at 7:30am and unloaded all the sacks from the truck to another truck to take it to the villages. On behalf of all at Sneha Sagar Society and on behalf of all the people of Sangli, I would like to thank you all who have come forward and contributed to help them and Fr. Lijo and Mr. Dominic of Saint Alphonsa School Alpho Training & Animation Centre (ATC). It was indeed a great experience because of you all that this outreach was possible. Thank you very much.

If possible, could you all please donate Utensils ( plates, glass, bowl, cooking vessels, Kadhai) bedsheets, blankets, sarees, lungi, towels etc. for the people of Sangli as they are in desperate need of utensils as they have lost every utensils they owned. If you could also help by contacting hotels if they are looking forward to getting rid of bedsheets and towels, we are open to taking them to Sangli. So if you could help us help them with the same, we could go and help them once again.

If anybody would like to help in funds for this cause can also do the same with the bank details mentioned below.

We have 80G under the Tax exemption.
